Land In Common is run by its members, and your participation will add to the strength of our collective work.
We have two types of members, both of which are crucial to keeping the organization moving and vibrant:
Resident Members are people who live or work on land held by Land in Common, and who have been on this land for 6 months or more.
Associate Members, are people from the wider community who believe in the vision and values of the organization and want to actively participate in helping it to thrive.
Membership in Land in Common is an active role. We ask members to do your best to attend and participate in annual General Membership meetings, to volunteer at various events and on project-specific working groups as you are able, and even to consider running for a position on the organization's Board. In return, you get to collaborate with delightful people, join in envisioning and creating new and more livable futures for Maine people and communities, and participate in the work of building land justice and a vibrant land commons!
Our membership sets the dues annually. For 2021, we ask Associate Members make an annual sliding-scale contribution of $10-$250 based on your ability to pay. Alternatively, members can make a contribution of a 2 hour work-trade for Land in Common. Work-trade opportunities will be available and offered through LC land projects, and coordinated by LC staff. If you are interested in a work-trade opportunity please contact LC staff. (Note: resident members make their contribution through their Ground Lease payments to the CLT).
